Ed Vaizey welcomed a young constituent to Parliament today – six year old Catherine Heron. Accompanied by her father Mark, Catherine is campaigning to ensure that all schools treat children with diabetes as well as her own school – Charlton primary in Wantage. Within weeks of being diagnosed in January, the school had ensured that all relevant staff were trained to deal with Catherine’s condition. “Charlton School has clearly been superb”, said Ed Vaizey. “We need to ensure that all schools follow Charlton’s example, so that young children with diabetes lead as normal a life as possible”.
